I tried the three steps suggested in this article, but none resolved the issue. The error is still occurring. I ended up finding a fix on this thread. I have the same problem. I upgraded from Windows 7 Home to Windows 10 yesterday. I do know that the updates were working right after the upgrade because when turned it of last night it installed updates and then when I booted it up this morning it configured updates on bootup.

I am able to login as admin. That was the first problem. The second is that I am unable to download Windows10 updates. After reading several threads, I realize that until Windows fixes this for me, I will not be downloading any updates. I tried “method1”, which was user friendly and useless.
